1983 / 1984

  • Dec. 1983: Foundation of CTS GmbH
  • Jan. 1984: Terminal Cologne Niehl is put into operation with a storage capacity of 8.000 sqm, handled by one gantry crane
  • barge connection 2 x per week to seaports Rotterdam and Antwerp

1989

  • rail connection “Albatros” is relocated from Cologne Eifeltor to CTS in Niehl, thus direct connection to seaports Hamburg and Bremerhaven

1991

  • enlargement of terminal size by additional storage capacity of 10.000 sqm
  • installation of container gantry crane EK17

1996 / 1998

  • opening of the “Depot-Service-Center” at Terminal Molenkopf, operations handled by one gantry crane
  • regular departures to the Belgian seaport Zeebrugge are added to the barge schedule
  • implementation of several load-and-hold-accounts for manufacturers dealing in the plastics industry

1999

  • establishment of "Rail-Service-Center" at Terminal Westkai, commissioning of further gantry crane
  • April: implementation of block train transports to and from Rotterdam

2000

  • beginning of operations at the so-called Antwerp Pier with gantry crane EK18 (span width of up to 12 ISO containers => EK18 is reckoned as largest crane facility along the River Rhine)
  • expanding of operation hours to a 24/7 service
  • satellite terminals M-Real in Bergisch Gladbach and Container Terminal Chemiepark Knapsack, Huerth are connected via overnight rail shuttles

2002

  • satellite terminal M-Real, Dueren is connected with Terminal Cologne via another overnight rail shuttle

2003 / 2004

  • CTS provides container stuffing and stripping services in the Packing-Center Cologne, operated by neska Koeln
  • fumigation center is placed into operation at the Terminal Molenkopf, where containers are fumigated according to international standards

2005

  • introduction of new barge link to seaport Amsterdam
  • October: installation of gantry crane EK19, in construction identical to EK 18

2006

  • April 1st: Rotterdam train shuttle Koeln-Duesseldorf-Express (formerly operated by Conliner BV) is now affreighted and operated by CTS
  • perspective October 2006: implementation of block train to and from Antwerp
